Recreation at GASP
Allowing students the freedom to choose their own recreation activities is crucial for their growth and development. By providing a wide range of options, such as board games, card games, group games, arts and crafts, building blocks, larger staff-led sports, and social time, we empower students to explore their interests, develop their skills, and foster their creativity.
Giving students the autonomy to select their preferred activities helps to nurture their sense of individuality and independence while also encouraging them to engage in cooperative play and teamwork. This sense of freedom allows them to make decisions for themselves, boosting their self-confidence and sense of responsibility. Moreover, this choice-based approach to recreation also enables students to discover new hobbies, set personal goals, and build self-confidence.
By emphasizing the importance of student choice, we not only support their holistic development, but also create an inclusive and empowering environment at GASP. When students have the opportunity to choose what they want to participate in, they feel valued and respected. It also encourages a sense of ownership over their own learning experience, as they are actively involved in shaping their after-school activities. In this way, students are not only engaged in activities they love, but they are also developing essential life skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, and collaboration. Our goal at GASP is to create an environment that fosters personal growth and encourages students to become well-rounded individuals. By offering a variety of options and promoting student choice, we believe we are laying the foundation for their future success.
